Orpheus

Orpheus, the wondrous lyre player, went down to the underworld to retrieve his newly-dead bride, Eurydice. He so charmed Hades and Persephone that they allowed him to reclaim her as long as he didn’t look back. Of course, he did and Eurydice got sucked back down. I depicted Orpheus’ lyre as an hourglass through which the deceased have fallen and by which Orpheus tried to pluck his beloved back.
